INFLD supports most of the combo box-related type codes even in text mode, only in that case, instead of a combo box like shown above, you get a normal looking field, with a display of the list of options along the bottom line of the screen. (The display can be turned off with TYPE s.) This is a good example of a GUI enhancement that you get with INFLD without any programming changes, simply by activating GUI mode (with |G).
