TRACE Options

Scroll Prev Top Next More

Updated January 2024; see History

These are equivalent to the identically-named TRACE options in miame.ini. Since they are primarily used only for debugging, it is a handy convenience to be able to turn them on temporarily for a single job or program execution without having to modify miame.ini and re-launch the session. These variables accept only ON or OFF settings.

See the table in the TRACE system parameter topic for a full listing of all options.

Comments

Depending on the operating system you are running, some of the options may not appear. For example, signals are only available under Unix.
In most cases the output of the traces go to the ashlog.log file, which is in the same directory as miame.ini, unless specified elsewhere with the LOGDIR property in miame.ini.
Any attempt to set any other parameter, even if it is a valid parameter under AMOS, will result in the same error message ("?Invalid function").
With ATE or A-Shell/Windows most log messages can also be captured/displayed in the System Message Window. Use Ctrl+Shift+Double-Click somewhere on the A-Shell window, then right click on the System Message Window), select Properties, and check the Show System Traces option along with any desired trace options.
Beginning with A-Shell 7.0.1754 of January 2024, NOTRACE is available for turning off tracing for specified subroutines.
