A-Shell Consolidated Reference

To update ATE, simply retrieve the latest ATE installation package from MicroSabio, and install ATE over the top of your existing installation. Your configuration and licensing files will not be overwritten, and the new version of ATE should simply and easily replace the older one.

As a convenience to site administrators wishing to facilitate the process of keeping many individual workstation copies of ATE updated to the same level, you can place the ATE installation package in the $MIAME/atesetup directory. When each workstation connects, the server will query the workstation's version of ATE and compare it against the versions in the atesetup directory. If there is later version available, it will then give the user the option to update by automatically download the installation package from the server and launching it.

History

2011 September, A-Shell 5.1.1234:  A Check for Updates option is now automatically added to the Help menu if the OPR:ATEUPDLOC.CFG file is present and specifies a Command= option.

2009 February, A-Shell 5.1.1138:  A-Shell now supports a new optional file %MIAME%/atesetup/options.txt, which if present, may contain a single line of command line switches to be passed to the ATE update routine. By default, only the /AUTOUPDATE switch is passed (and at this point, that is the only recognized switch), but this opens the door for adding additional options, even custom dealer-implemented ones, to the update/installer.
