The Clipboard

The clipboard allows information to be exchanged between Windows applications. Using the copy and paste features of ZTERM 2000, the data can easily be transferred between the host and PC systems.

Selecting text: To select text move the mouse cursor to the position where you want to start selecting and then drag the mouse to the position where you want the selection to end. The selected text will be shown in a distinctive color.

Copying text: Either click on the button on the toolbar (if displayed) or use the Edit menu and select Copy. This will copy the selected area to the clipboard.

Note: some host applications "capture" the mouse cursor and use it to report clicks to the host. An example of applications that do this are those based on ESP, a screen management package. When the mouse has been captured, both the Copy button on the toolbar and the Edit, Copy menu will be disabled. To temporarily enable clipboard operations, hold down the Control key on your keyboard.

Note: most Windows applications use Control-C to copy selected information to the clipboard. Because Control-C is used as a key combination that it sent to the host, Control-C cannot be used with ZTERM 2000. You must use either the toolbar or the Edit, Copy menu.

Pasting text: Place the text you want sent on the clipboard and then click on the button on the toolbar (if displayed) or use the Edit Menu and select Paste. ZTERM 2000 will send the contents of the clipboard to the host, with the appropriate delays to ensure that data is not lost.
