I'm looking for the function that returns the actual size (# of fixed pitch columns)of a GUI (proportional font) text.
I remember having read something about this one day, but i can't find it on the online reference help.
Thank you everyone, supporting me in my pilgrimage from AMOS to Ashell.

Check out the AUIWIN.BP in [908,28]. It illustrates several uses of XCALL AUI, AUI_WINDOW, including one that calculates the size of a text string (in pixels and millicolumn/millirow units).

(Admittedly, this is hard to find in the documentation, if at all.)

If you don't have the program, you can download it from http://www.microsabio.net/dist/soslib/

Oui, c'est ça: To "hit the nail on the head" is to address the issue precisely.
