Moving off an Alpha Micro, creating a flat file to export, I found TAB characters in data fields. This caused my column defined data to be off. Dr. Watson and I found that some of the data fields have embedded TAB chrs. How they got there is a mystery, and I am not concerned as to why. INFLD is used to enter the data, with an "*" asterisk infld control. I added EDIT$ to filter all the data fields during the export routine, so the problem is solved.
Just thought I would post this for anyone else that still has an AM alive and kicking.
ps I don't have a clue what version of Infld it was. I looked at the data with Notepad++ with no word wrap and could immediately see columns shifted to the right.
