Wahoo, Yippee, I think I've got it........
In IE, for once HELP worked. I wonder if after
I reboot the system that it will revert. But,
in the meantime here are the steps and what I
did. The Help screen:

............
intranet sites and many webpages can be accessed by typing a common name (for example,
http://benefits). If intranet security is enabled, Internet Explorer will recognize the difference between the addresses and use the appropriate security zone settings.
Do I need to set anything in Internet Explorer to have intranet security?
........snip............
If Internet Explorer recognizes that you are on an intranet, you do not need to do anything else. If it does not recognize that you're on an intranet, follow these steps to tell Internet Explorer that you are on one:
In Internet Explorer,
click Tools,
click Internet Options
click the Security tab
click Local intranet
click the Sites button
In the Local intranet dialog box, clear the Automatically detect intranet network check box, if it is selected.
------- HERE IS THE KEY CHECK ALL THREE BOXES ---
Select all other check boxes.......
--------- I had to leave the standard MS
message about talking to your local Net Admin.
That is their way out when they don't know what
else to tell us in "HELP" docs...... ggggrrrrrhhhh.
--------------------
To learn how to connect to your company's intranet, you'll need to talk to your network administrator
========================
The notes above reference this but do not say
check the other boxes. I haven't gone through
the combinations of the three check boxes to see which one is the one that actually kicks the message off.
saludos y sincerely
