Release 1.2 of the A-Shell/SQL interface is now available. The main points of interest are:
1. ODBC connectors for Windows and Linux.
2. Some minor bug fixes and improvements to the MySQL connectors.
3. Several changes and enhancements to the SQL.SBR interface, including some that may affect compatibility (or at the very least, require a re-compile) for existing programs.
4. The documentation has approximately doubled in size.
5. The sample programs and auxiliary functions have been expanded somewhat, plus there are two notable new samples: sqltest4 (which illustrates creating, inserting, modifying, deleting), and sqlcustst (contributed by Stephen Funkhouser, illustrating a customer lookup utility with the Sakila sample database - see picture below):
A-Shell/SQL developers who are already in the program should start with the
Release Notes which should provide the necessary guidance for downloading the updates.
A-Shell/SQL developers who haven't yet signed on to the program should start by emailing Ty for information about the Beta development program. (Reminder: the official Beta program, during which everything is free, ends on July 1.)
One final reminder: Although it should mention this somewhere in the release notes or updated documentation, you'll need to update to A-Shell 5.1.1146 or higher to use the new/updated connectors and SQL.SBR.
