If I'm not wrong, Image columns do not sort, is it complicated to make it work?

In a column where different icons identify different statuses, sorting it, group the rows according that status, sometimes are just a matter of yes/no and avoid the need to add an external filter.

Seems reasonable. It's not clear just what the order will or should be, but I don't see why we can't sort based on either the image spec or in the case of an image list, it's relative position in the list. Either one would have the effect of grouping them. Consider it on the list.

Ok, I think this is ready for beta testing. And in the process of implementing it, I discovered a long-standing bug affecting PNG images when using fixed-size, non-discrete images (which probably no one ever noticed).
One limitation here is that in the non-discrete image mode, it can currently only distinguish 16 different images for the purpose of sorting. That could be expanded if it seems inadequate, but it should be plenty for scenarios like the one shown above.
Consider it beta for now though, so testing is advised...
