This error is displayed on entering A-Shell, and is distinct from the AlphaBASIC-type ?Out of memory error. A-Shell was unable to allocate a partition of the size requested by the MEMORY command in the A-Shell configuration file from the available operating system memory. This partition is used as A-Shell’s workspace, but unlike under AMOS, it is not used to load programs. (Programs are loaded in dynamically allocated memory.) Under Windows and UNIX, it is unlikely that you will ever see this message. If you do, then the chances are that the machine really does require more physical memory (or that your MEMORY command is crazy.) Note that you can dynamically change the size of your memory partition with the MEMORY.LIT command.
