The question of development vs. runtime causes a good deal of confusion. Up through the present version, and for the foreseeable future, the BASIC development tools (i.e. COMPIL and VUE) are included as part of the standard runtime package which everyone gets. What isn’t included is the Developer’s Kit whose purpose is to allow developers to add their own subroutine extensions to A-Shell. This option is available for most platforms as an add-on package, but due to the many issues that complicate the matter, its installation is not discussed in this document. Contact MicroSabio for further details.
