When the client is ATE and both server and client are at edit 1244 or higher, the server will now request an internal acknowledgement from the client before sending the aux port enable command. This avoids a situation where a sequence of printing operations that are much more time consuming on the client side than on the server side (e.g. PDF, email) can result in the server getting too far ahead of the client, resulting in the client's failure to properly handle the aux port on/off status. The protocol change will be effectively invisible to the outside world (users and applications), and will be disabled entirely if either side doesn't support it.
