Keyboard Options

Translate Alt to Func: When this option is checked, ZTERM 2000 will translate any Alt key sequences to Func sequences, which are used by many host based applications. If this option is unchecked, there is no way to generate a Func sequence.

Alternate End key: If this option is checked, ZTERM 2000 will send character 223 (0xdf) to the host when the End key is pressed. If this option is unchecked, a Control-E is sent to the host. This option is typically checked when using host applications designed with a screen generation package called ESP.

CAPS-LOCK/Shift Force Upper Case: If this button is checked, ZTERM 2000 will send upper case characters to the host when CAPS LOCK is turned on and the shift key is held down. Although this is the opposite behavior for Windows, it makes the PC keyboard act much more like an Alpha Micro AM6x keyboard.

Shift-Enter as Execute: If this option is enabled, pressing Shift-Enter on the PC keyboard will send the same key sequence to the host as if the Execute button were pressed.

General Options

Warn on disconnect: If this option is checked and the host system closes the connection (if it is reset for example), a warning will appear to indicate the connection has closed. Note that this only applies to telnet connections.

Automatic connection: When this option is checked, ZTERM 2000 will automatically attempt to connect to the host system when it starts.

Disable toolbar: If this option is checked, the toolbar at the top of the ZTERM 2000 window will be turned off. This option is useful if the window is taking up too much space on a low-resolution display.

Disable file transfer: If this option is checked, ZTERM 2000 will not perform file transfer. This option is useful if the host system contains sensitive information that shouldn't be transferred onto other computers.

Disable status bar: If this option is checked, the status bar at the bottom of the ZTERM 2000 window will be turned off. This option is useful if the window is taking up too much space on a low-resolution display.

Flash window on bell: This option is very useful if the host system rings the bell when it wants to get your attention. If the ZTERM windows doesn't have focus (i.e. it's not the active window or if it's minimized), if the bell rings, the ZTERM title bar will start to flash. Even if ZTERM is minimized, it'll start to flash on the Windows 95/NT task bar. When the ZTERM window is brought into focus (i.e. it's clicked on), the flashing will automatically stop.

Lock configuration: This option allows the ZTERM 2000 configuration information to be protected against accidental changes. See Protecting the Configuration.

Quick Keys on Toolbar: If this button is checked and the toolbar is enabled, four extra buttons will be added to the toolbar. Clicking on these buttons will cause the Execute, Help, Print, Cancel and Menu function key sequences to the host system.

Disable printing: If this option is checked, attempts by the host to print to the printer attached to the PC will not work. This option is useful if you connect to the host via a modem and noise on the phone line results in reams of paper being accidentally printed.

Close on telnet close: If this box is checked and the connection to the host is via telnet, when the host closes the connection (for example if you log off the host), ZTERM 2000 will automatically close.

Instance Limit: This slider controls the number of copies of ZTERM 2000 can be launched on each machine. Use this control if the host system has a limit on the number of incoming connections and you want to avoid multiple or too many connections from each PC.

Simple Menu: When next restarted, ZTERM 2000 will use a simple menu that prevents the user from changing any settings. In order to allow configuration of ZTERM 2000, the registry entry for the current profile must be edited and the line SimpleMenu=1 must be deleted.
