Printer

This drop-down box allows you to select one of the printers visible to the local workstation. In addition to the standard Windows printer choices, there will be one or two special options <Prompt> (shown above) and possibly <A-Shell FAX>. The <Prompt> choice causes ATE to prompt you for a printer choice whenever the host computer forwards a printout to your workstation. The <A-Shell FAX> choice forwards the printout to the A-Shell FAX: driver, which provides a way for an application to send reports through the Microsoft Fax Printer without having to prompt for phone numbers. See the A-Shell Development Guide for details.

Print Mode

Allows you to choose whether ATE will use the standard Windows printer protocol to talk to the printer driver, or will instead use the "passthrough" mode. The GDI option is equivalent to the A-Shell/Windows printer init option PASSTHROUGH=OFF, while the Passthrough option is equivalent to PASSTHROUGH=ON. In general, you'll want to use GDI mode, unless the host application embeds ESC (or PCL) sequences into the report files (in which case you will also need to select a printer type specifically compatible with what the host application is assuming.)
