If the host system is at a remote location, ZTERM 2000 can automatically handle the task of dialing into the remote modem and establishing the connection.
Connecting via a modem allows one session to the host, unless multi-session emulators (like FliP and Multi) are used.
If using an external modem, a standard PC modem cable can be used:

When using an internal modem, obviously no cable is required.
ZTERM 2000 uses Microsoft's TAPI system to dial telephone numbers. This means compatibility between Windows applications like ZTERM and any type of modem that's supported by a TAPI driver. TAPI also takes dialing from a laptop PC simple. By telling ZTERM the country code, area code and phone number of the modem you want to call, if you move your laptop into a different area, you just need to setup a location in TAPI. Once you've told Windows the dialing rules for that location, TAPI and ZTERM will automatically generate the correct number to dial.
